OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp Chestnut, located in West Chester at the Oscar Lasko YMCA provides campers who are preschool age through 8th grade with a summer they'll never forget. Campers have an opportunity to make friends and participate in a variety of camp activities including: arts & crafts, sports, free swim, field games, community service and weekly themed activities.

Camp Chestnut runs for 11 weeks from June 13 through August 26 and registration for camp is done by the week to allow families flexibility to select camp weeks that work for them. Camp Chestnut also runs specialty camps including: Esports, gymnastics and ninja parkour. Camp runs from 9 AM - 4 PM each day, aftercare is included in the price of camp. CAMP FACILITIES: Campers sleep in cabins or dormitories and are invited to join us for camp activities such as archery, bocce ball, arts & crafts, music & Bible, mini golf, group games, and chapel. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Shepherds Camp has been providing full-care overnight camp for teens and adults with developmental disabilities for 60 years!

The safety and proper supervision of all campers is our staff's greatest priority. Our 'Protective Oversight Plan' ensures that every individual has a safe stay at camp.

Each year our camp is inspected by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and Broome NY Developmental Services. Shepherds Camp has been approved by the New York State Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) to care for adults with developmental disabilities. The approval process includes a full review of our facilities, policies and procedures, and protective oversight plan each season of operation.

Here are just a few of the safety precautions and procedures that we have in place:

Campers are accounted for during all hours of the day and night.
Night staff are awake all night during the summer, indoors and outdoors.
All cabins are equipped with lighted security systems.
Hourly bed checks are conducted in the dormitories overnight.
A radio system facilitates communication 24 hours a day.
Enhanced wheelchair accessibility for housing and recreational activities.
Professional medical staff are onsite 24 hours a day.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Cornerstone Leadership Camp is a continuation of our day camp program, but it begins to teach teens about leading and serving others, as modeled by Jesus in the Bible. Teens will have a daily schedule that includes time to serve others. They will work together on a project that benefits others, giving them a sense of accomplishment and self-esteem. They will also enjoy age-appropriate camp programs that reflect their interests and abilities. At the end of each week, we hope that teens have a bigger heart for serving others while developing the work ethic and good character necessary for tomorrow’s leaders.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our camper living facilities are beautiful modern cabins, all of which have wood flooring, windows, air-conditioning and ceiling fans. Modern updated bathrooms with showers and toilet stalls, are within the cabins. The bunks are spacious with plenty of storage for camper and counselor's clothing.

A CIT day encompasses work experience, bunk activities including lunch and swimming, as well as sport and recreational periods. CIT's work with both specialist and bunks developing leadership and organizational skills. As the oldest campers, CIT's are rewarded with day trips and after-hours activities supervised by their counselors, division leaders and other staff.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: CIT Program: A CIT candidate must submit an application with two personal references and a medical reference. Space is limited for this position.

The role of a CIT is to assist counselors while working with younger campers. The CIT Program provides training for youth interested in working with kids, specifically as camp counselors. Participants are expected to interact thoughtfully and compassionately with younger campers; to commit to learning more about themselves, camp, and camp procedures; to be team members and to take on responsibility and leadership. CITs also have the opportunity to learn a basic understanding of diabetes and its care.

The primary goal of the CIT Program is to offer a fun and supportive experience that will develop confidence, commitment, and community. The program focuses on helping youth become future leaders by developing communication, teamwork and leadership skills. CITs will leave ready to become camp counselors.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Sequoia is very fortunate to call The Perkiomen School campus our summer home. Pennsburg is a suburban area approximately a one hour drive northwest of Philadelphia in Montgomery County. The proximity of many educational and recreational activities to Pennsburg make our weekly out of camp trips very convenient.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The Perkiomen School offers a wide array of playing fields and outdoor athletic facilities such as tennis and basketball courts. An indoor, competition size swimming pool, multiple gyms and top notch art facilities are just a few of the indoor highlights. When it's time for bed, campers will enjoy the comfort of their bedrooms which feature closets, dressers and desks. Bad weather is no problem at Camp Sequoia thanks to our amazing facilities. This is a great asset to our campers who have trouble with change in schedules.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: The LIT program meets the need for young people ages 16-17 who are not yet ready for a summer job and need help developing their social thinking skills, independent skills and job readiness skills. Camp Sequoia's Leader-In-Training program provides a safe and supportive environment for our LIT's to learn and practice these important skills.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Sequoia Kids Weekend Program: A School Year Social Skill Development and Recreational Program for children ages 7-15. Dynamic trips up and down the East Coast foster real life social skills lessons. Camp Leadership and a Registered Nurse are always on these trips.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp Winnipeg, located in West Chester at the West Chester Area YMCA provides campers who are preschool age through 8th grade with a summer they'll never forget. Campers have an opportunity to make friends and participate in a variety of camp activities including: arts & crafts, sports, free swim, field games, community service and weekly themed activities.

Camp Winnipeg runs for 11 weeks from June 13 through August 26 and registration for camp is done by the week to allow families flexibility to select camp weeks that work for them. CAMP FACILITIES: Our cabins are nestled in the woods, on a lake, and each one has a bathroom with two sinks, two toilets, and two showers. Our dining hall is large enough to seat the entire camp, so we are able to eat all of our meals as one big family. We have a heated outdoor pool, two baseball fields, two large multi-purpose fields (soccer, football, lacrosse), 6 tennis courts, an outdoor and an indoor basketball court, a fencing room, a fitness center, an indoor floor hockey/soccer rink, a multi-room arts & crafts center, more than 10 high ropes and climbing elements, a beautiful covered theater that overlooks the lake, plenty of forest for hiking, biking, and camping, and much more.

Lake Owego Camp is owned by the Black family, who has been operating youth summer camps longer than almost anyone else. In 1931, Hughie and Selma Black founded Pine Forest Camp, which grew over the years to become a nationally recognized co-ed camp. Building on that success, Lake Owego for boys was opened in 1961, and our sister camp for girls, Camp Timber Tops, was opened in 1963.

Today, the third-generation and 4th generation leadership of Mickey and Barbara Black, and their children, Lee and Anna, carry on the family legacy, earning awards such as "Family Business of the Year" and serving as active leaders in the American Camping Association of America.

Directors John and Rachel Waszczak, Kyle Silver, Jeff Freedman and Shelly Silver have over 90 years of combined camp experience, and they work together a fantastic camp experience for each and every Lake Owego camper.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Campers going into 11th grade take part in our Counselor Assistant program, which includes opportunities to assist in teaching activities, assist in younger bunks, go on college tours to NY, MD, PA, MA, and a 2 week trip to Costa Rica. The Costa Rica trip is included in the camp tuition, and the campers will get to explorer and see the sites, go on a canopy zip-line tour, and hike around a volcano, as well as train for and put on a 1 week camp for underserved local children. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity!

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 10 cabins, dining hall, basketball court, pavilion, access to 2 man-made lakes, creek, large grass field, 2 rustic campfire locations, and we nestle our program areas in and around the surrounding forest.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Thompson is an ACA accredited camp, a national accreditation from the American Camping Association. This means our staff and camp need to meet certain requirements and standards every year. All staff are CPR\AED, First Aid, and Lifeguard Certfied. We complete 60 hours of staff training; including program areas ( tower, archery, OLS) as well as Darkness 2 Light, Child Abuse and Mandating reporting training. All staff complete 3 background checks, and go through two extensive interviews for hire.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: L.I.T. is an exciting and challenging program geared toward building the participants’ leadership skills while still in a supervised and structured environment. During the program participants will develop the following leadership components: time management, leading organized activities, service learning, public speaking and listening. These valuable tools are beneficial in more than the camp community; they will be useful in life as well. Working in small groups, teens will participate in team initiatives, leadership workshops, service projects and all camp activities. As part of the course participants will create, plan and implement a 2- to 3-day back-packing trip for themselves at the end of the their course. This is a 2-week residential program but just like the younger campers, participants go home in between sessions.

The C.I.T. program focuses on leadership, communication, counseling and activity skills necessary to become a counselor. If selected, CITs may request positions lasting from three to six weeks. This is an unpaid, volunteer program. There is no fee for participation. Applications must be submitted and interviews will be conducted.

FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Come to Camp Thompson and enjoy a spring weekend with your family. During the weekend, camp staff will provide activities for you and your family, or you can just take time to relax in scenic Pine Grove Furnace State Park in the Michaux State Forest. All meals are included, but you are encouraged to bring your own snacks. Please dress appropriately for outdoor activities including archery, canoeing, climbing the Alpine Tower, hiking, sling shots and more!

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 3 outdoor riding arenas with jumping courses, access to an outdoor pool, stables with stalls for 45 horses, an arts & crafts room, changing room and a seperate lunch/activity room.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The day camp at Ashford Farm in suburban Philadelphia is for children ages 6 to 14 who are interested in learning the correct basics of horsemanship and riding in an atmosphere designed for both safety and fun.

In addition to daily riding and horse care instruction, camp activities include arts and crafts, swimming and outdoor games. The program also features a camp picnic, field trips, a sleepover, a camp horse show and Parents Day.

Our enrollment is limited to 40. Beginner, intermediate and advanced groups are formed according to riding ability.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Ashford Farm offers year round riding lessons and a Pony club program in the winters.

Whitetail staff is professional and provides the best balance of fun and safety.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our camp is located at Blue Mountain Resort nestled in the Pocono mountains. For residential campers we offer cabins that sleep 8-10 campers, a counselor, and a junior counselor. Bathrooms and showers are located in the adjacent building. All campers will have Blue Mountain facilities at their disposal depending on the activities of your child's choice. Blue Mountain has laser tag accommodations, a ropes course, climbing wall, a zipline course, disc golf course, and an archery range. Campers also have the choice to go horseback riding at Apollo Farms or go on a Jim Thorpe River Adventure!

CAMP FACILITIES: Conshatawba is a Resident Camp that specializes in The Arts and Adventure. We have a ceramics and pottery program, arts and craft building, theater stage,pool, climbing rock wall and zip line, low ropes course, archery field and numerous sports fields. Conshatawba has beautiful lodges, platform tents, and cabins for lodging.Girls attend themed weeks of camp throughout the summer with this year's most popular sessions being a Percy Jackson session and a Hunger Games themed session. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Camp Lindenmere’s Leadership Training Program is carefully designed to teach participants both life and camp related skills. The LT’s will participate in all of the traditional Lindenmere camp activities, and will often experience many of these activities in a leadership role.

The program is fun, dynamic and creative while offering the LT’s more freedom and responsibility than other campers. The LT’s have the opportunity to participate in regular camp activities as well as experiential learning activities designed to teach life skills.

As the oldest campers, the LT’s are considered the foundation of the Lindenmere experience. Each participant is considered a valuable part of our community and is eligible to become our future staff and leaders.

OTHER CAMP INFO: How many people in each bunk?
Each bunk houses 8-12 campers with two to three counselors. The cabins are equipped with modern conveniences such as full bath facilities, including hot and cold running water, ample electrical outlets and storage space for clothing.

When do the campers pick their activities?
Majors are chosen before campers arrive at camp. The three minors are chosen at breakfast each morning and may vary from day to day.

Do campers ever get turned away from an activity they choose?
Never. A full time program director spends the day working with each child's schedule.

How many people in each activity?
Sometimes a child chooses a private lesson which is one-on-one with an instructor. Most activities have between eight to twelve children.

How does the laundry work?
Every camper's laundry is done with an outside service and is collected on Friday and returned to the campers on Sunday. The laundry for each cabin is kept together and the children sort their laundry with the aid of their counselors upon its return.

Do you have a doctor in camp?
We have a doctor and three registered nurses during each session. Our infirmary is staffed twenty four hours per day.

Are campers put into bunks by age or grade?
Campers are usually grouped in cabins by grade. Sometimes parents will request a placement by age. If your child wants to bunk with friends, we almost always are able to work it out.
Any out of camp trips?

Children leave camp to compete in intercamp games or special events such as a day trip to Camelbeach, Dorney Park, whitewater rafting, ice skating, bowling, minor league baseball games.

Do campers need extra money?
Canteen is provided free of charge each day. A small amount of spending money is recommended for other incidentals.

Where do campers come from?
All over. We have large groups of children from the New York metropolitan area, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, Florida, and California, but don't be surprised if you have a bunk mate from London, Paris, Madrid or Singapore.

OTHER CAMP INFO: Camp Chippewa, located in West Grove at the Jennersville YMCA provides campers from preschool age through 6th grade with a summer they'll never forget. Camp Chippewa runs for 14 weeks from May 30 through September 2 and registration for camp is done by the week to allow families flexibility to select camp weeks that work for them. CAMP FACILITIES: Summit has approx. 30 traditional wooden cabins with electric and private facilities in each cabin. Our main buildings include our newly refinished dining hall, air-conditioned recreational hall, our medical facility, and a newly built outdoor pavilion. Summit utilizes three A frame buildings for our arts programs, a wilderness treehouse with camp fire area for cookouts, newly resurfaced basketball/tennis courts, high/low ropes course with climbing wall, heated pool, private lake, nature fields with a farm area, martial arts dojo, go-kart track with 3 karts. Summit has a small amphitheatre adjacent to our lake, with a miraculous view of our beautiful setting where we enjoy swimming, canoeing, and riding our banana boats. Our camp resides on a gently rising hillside, thus providing us with the physical basis for our motto, "The Magic on the Hill."

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Summit Camp is a co-ed sleepaway camp for ages 8-19 years with issues of attention: AD/HD, HFA/Asperger’s Disorder, and/or learning differences. Using the frame of a traditional sleepaway camp, we create platforms of success where our campers can experience outcomes such as improved self-esteem, lasting friendships, and increased independence. This is accomplished through a well-orchestrated and expertly staffed backdrop to a largely traditional camp experience- guided challenges, waterfront, adventure course, and more. It is our goal and desire to take our campers from observing peer interactions to engaging in them, to learn and celebrate their own strengths and successes, and to feel a sense of belonging and shared community with those around them while they are with us.

Our Teen Travel program extends the Summit community to provide a safe yet exciting adventure to one of our many attractive national and international destination tours offering 14 day and 19 day excursions. Summit Weekenders provide a youth-group style social retreat for adolescents to have an oasis of independence, enjoyment, and success during the school year months. Regardless of the specific program, Summit provides an expertly staffed, highly structured, and truly fun experience for our youth, and has been doing so since 1969. Summit is accredited by the American Camp Association and takes pride in our long term commitment to and successes in working with special needs youth.

CAMP FACILITIES: We have 6 cabins with 8 bunk beds and bathroom facilities, 4 cabins with just beds, an outdoor pool, 2 meeting rooms with sound and projection, a dining hall and 2 smaller kitchen facilities, 2 camp fire sites, a gym, a day use activity center, and a pond

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
We hire close to 25 college students each summer to serve as our Support Staff. This team consists of guides (counselors), activity instructors, coaches, and coordinators. Each role has specific functions and responsibilities, which you can learn more about by checking out our website.

CAMP FACILITIES: Located on a beautiful 114 acre Farm, our programming occurs in our vegetable garden, on our horse trails, and in our wooden barn. Our Camp Site is located in a beautiful wooden canopy, near Little Buffalo State Park, with rustic cabins, a separate bath house, and family style dining hall.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: We practice leadership at the farm. It looks like learning to care for our community spaces together. It looks like square dancing in the barn and growing closer through shared experiences. It looks like eating together as one big family for every meal, sharing stories from our days and a laugh over spilled milk. It looks like learning to give and receive open and honest feedback in more effective ways. They say that the best way to learn a language is to live immersed in a native culture. Go camping, play Magic, learn the ukulele, climb a rock face, play soccer, learn to cook, have a barn dance, ride a horse, read a book, make up a new game, have a cardboard sword battle. These are just a few of the incredibly fun activities you will have to choose from at camp. The magic of Longacre happens as we bring learning leadership into all aspects of camp life and come together as a community. We believe in learning by living, and learning to better communicate how we feel about our experiences.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Leadership is the backbone to our program. To us, Leadership looks different for everyone. By building relationships, practicing open and honest communication, and empowered decision making. Our community values self-expression, compassion, cooperative leadership, and living joyfully.

Throughout every aspect of our program, campers and staff develop lifelong friends, indelible memories, and tangible skills. We grow leaders each summer who make lasting impacts on their communities, families, and the world.

Two aspects of our program that specifically are designed for intentional communication, empowered decision making, and relationship building include Crew and Group. Crew is the daily "chores" group that every camper participates in. This is anything from cooking breakfast, to cleaning the stalls and feeding the horses, to taking out the trash and recycling around camp. We do hard work, and then we get to play! Group is our evening program that is defined as "the part of Longacre that makes us unique". This is an intentionally facilitated communication workshop for all of our campers and staff. This is where we use communication tools and skills to better understand ourselves, others, and how we interact with the world.

Longacre Leadership

Longacre Leadership Camp is a residential, co-ed summer camp located in Central Pennsylvania for students aged 8 - 18. We are located on a 114 acre farm 40 minutes north of Harrisburg and will be enjoying our 44th summer this year. Position dates are from June 14th - August 15th 2018.

We hire camp counselors, AKA Big Kids aged 21 and over who are passionate about working with young people and who are committed to building a community. We are looking for staff with a range of skills and expertise including, carpentry, horse riding, arts and crafts, animal husbandry, outdoor education and organic gardening. This position is a blend of farm work and youth work.

CAMP FACILITIES: Camp Galil is set in the beautiful fields and forests of Bucks County, Pennsylvania, about one hour from both Philadelphia, New York City, and most New Jersey addresses.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Galil is a kibbutz atmosphere that focuses on cooperative living. It is a community of young people from all streams of Jewish life.

One key to our success is our unique "youth leading youth" formula. Grounded in our historic and dynamic partnership with Habonim Dror Labor Zionist Youth, Camp Galil truly "walks the walk" of youth leadership by empowering our talented counselors to plan and implement all aspects of Camp Galil's educational program.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Madatz is our Leadership Training Program for campers finishing 11th grade. The madatz program offers our future counselors an intense training program in leadership and a wonderful opportunity to experience living and working together as a group.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Galil runs programming for our campers across the tri-state area all year round! From Fall and Spring Seminars at camp and celebrations of Jewish holidays to bowling trips and community service projects, we hope you will join us this year.
